The locations are within the premises of Lagos state university teaching hospital (LASUTH) Ikeja, Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University teaching hospital complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife. For persons living with lifelong conditions such as spina bifida and hydrocephalus and their families, knowing that they are not alone dealing with the attendant challenges of these neurological conditions could go a long way to reduce emotional feelings. Our support group platforms provide affected persons and their families opportunities for peer support, socialize and make new friends, learning from the experiences of others and gain hope through shared success stories and positive role models. It is free for all families impacted by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

The project seeks to ensure that children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (SBH) and their families have the skills and knowledge necessary for fully participating in society, with emphasis on rights to health and education. Expected results from the project are that schools in target communities are inclusive of learners with disabilities, Festus Fajemilo Foundation and its members promote and support the inclusion of CWDs and also that persons with disabilities such as SBH in target communities enjoy improved health and living conditions through life skills. Major activities in the project include training of 30 teachers from 15 schools in target communities on inclusive and continence education, skills training for 20 mothers of children with SBH for income generation to support their children in schools, life skills training for 15 youths with SBH to boost their self-esteem and assume independence to care for their body. Other activities in the project are continence management training for health care professionals and following up trained schools for a technical guide on the implementation of inclusiveness in their operations.https://web.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10214579043455814&set=pcb.10214579338223183&type=3&theater[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1423805454452{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Who We Are” color=”green” style=”double” text_color=”#1e1e1e”][/vc_column][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1423805454452{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/3″][stm_info_box title=”Our Mission”]To provide information, services and advocacy to ensure that people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (SBH) have equal rights and access to good healthcare in Nigeria[/stm_info_box][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][stm_info_box title=”Our Vision”]A Nigeria where everyone who has spina bifida or hydrocephalus can access quality healthcare and support.[/stm_info_box][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][stm_info_box title=”Our Core Values”]Care
